Wor(l)d of Morrissey
We're back! Welcome to the world of Morrissey's lyrics.

This site and all of the work made to update it are dedicated to my beloved friend MaCa65 who suddenly left this lonely planet
and me without words. Throughout the short stretch of time that we have been given to spend together as close friends, we shared many things,
thoughts and passions. Back in 1983, together we discovered a band called The Smiths and together since then, we followed Morrissey's career
as one of most influential and inspiring singer/artist/poet of our age. Maca65 has been a strong supporter when I first launched WoM,
so this is and will always be entirely for you, my friend. -- David

Back To The Old House

I would rather not go
Back to the old house

I would rather not go
Back to the old house
There's too many
Bad memories
Too many memories
There

When you cycled by
Here began all my dreams
The saddest thing I've ever seen
And you never knew
How much I really liked you
Because I never even told you
Oh and I meant to

Are you still there
Or have you moved away?
Or have you moved away?

I would love to go
Back to the old house
But I never will
I never will

I never will

Slight, sober and simple yet highly evocative lyrics for this song. Going back with his thoughts and feelings, the protagonist (almost certainly Morrissey himself) struggles to resist the nostalgic temptation to revisit one's past locale, a house where he once lived and fell in love for the first time.

Album: Hatful Of Hollow

Ritorno alla vecchia casa

Preferirei non tornare
Nella vecchia casa

Preferirei non tornare
Nella vecchia casa
Ci sono troppi
Cattivi ricordi
Troppi ricordi
Laggiù

Quando tu passasti di qui in bicicletta
Tutti i miei sogni cominciarono
La cosa più triste che io abbia mai provato
E tu non hai mai saputo
Quanto mi piacevi in realtà
Perché io non te l'ho mai neppure detto
Oh e volevo farlo
