This song was originally supposed to be included in "Kill Uncle" album. Later Morrissey decided to leave the track out because, he said, "Listening back to it, I've heard that sort of thing before." The song was used instead as a b-side on the "Our Frank" 12-inch with the phrase 'drunker quicker' carved into the vinyl matrix. The American version of "Kill Uncle" album (issued by Sire Records) though included "Tony The Pony" as the last track, apparently without Morrissey's permission.

Questa canzone doveva inizialmente essere inclusa nell'album "Kill Uncle". In seguito Morrissey decise di lasciarla fuori poiché, come lui stesso disse: "Riascoltandola, mi è parso come di aver già sentito prima questa cosa." Il brano fu invece utilizzato come lato B del singolo su 12 pollici "Our Frank", con la scritta 'drunker quicker' incisa sul master di vinile. La versione americana di "Kill Uncle" (pubblicato nel 1991 dalla Sire Records) conteneva "Tony The Pony" come ultima traccia, apparentemente senza il permesso di Morrissey.
