Wor(l)d of Morrissey
We're back! Welcome to the world of Morrissey's lyrics.

This site and all of the work made to keep it updated during the last 25 years are dedicated to my beloved friend MaCa65 who suddenly left this lonely planet
and me without words. Throughout the short stretch of time that we have been given to spend together as close friends, we shared many things,
thoughts, passions and some bits of Life. Back in 1983, together we discovered a band called The Smiths and together since then, we followed Morrissey's career
as one of the most influential and inspiring singer/artist/poet of our age. Maca65 has always been a strong supporter since when I first launched WoM,
so this is and will always be entirely for you, my friend. -- David

I Know It's Gonna Happen Someday

My love
Wherever you are
Whatever you are
Don't lose faith
I know it's gonna happen someday
To you
Please wait
Please wait

Wait
Don't lose faith

You say that the day
Just never arrives
And it's never seemed so far away
Still I know it's gonna happen someday
To you
Please wait
Don't lose faith

An unusual song for Morrissey, with its style owing more to 1950's ballads than the glam-rock era prevalent on other parts of Your Arsenal. The counterpart to the previous track Seasick, Yet Still Docked, this song seems so full of hope, and the lyrics are so simple, you can't help thinking perhaps it's all a bit too simple, and Morrissey is actually using the apparent meaning as a foil to a more subtle and despairing attitude. Also note, the whole sung is to the 2nd person, and there is no mention as to what is to happen to the protagonist, leaving the contrasting impression that, for the singer, it's not gonna happen someday.
Much to Morrissey's delight, this song was covered by his hero David Bowie.
Jan Christoph Stortlunder sent me a translation of the German part of the beginning sample of this song :

[Original:]

[Translated:]
...We should think about young people who are ready to try more new ideas than ... old ones [people], to which nothing bad can happen anymore...If everything works fine, the [???]council is going to...next march...For Heiner Mueller it means the preparation for...[Tuning]...Which reaches from ?Franken? to Berlin...But now something of the ???...

So che un giorno accadrà

Amor mio
dovunque tu sia
chiunque tu sia
non perdere la fiducia
Io so che un giorno succederà
a te
Ti prego, pazienta
Ti prego, pazienta

Aspetta

Ti prego, pazienta
