Wor(l)d of Morrissey
We're back! Welcome to the world of Morrissey's lyrics.

This site and all of the work made to update it are dedicated to my beloved friend MaCa65 who suddenly left this lonely planet
and me without words. Throughout the short stretch of time that we have been given to spend together as close friends, we shared many things,
thoughts and passions. Back in 1983, together we discovered a band called The Smiths and together since then, we followed Morrissey's career
as one of most influential and inspiring singer/artist/poet of our age. Maca65 has been a strong supporter when I first launched WoM,
so this is and will always be entirely for you, my friend. -- David

Reel Around The Fountain

It's time the tale were told
Of how you took a child
And you made him old
It's time the tale were told
Of how you took a child
And you made him old
You made him old

Reel around the fountain
Slap me on the patio
I'll take it now
Fifteen minutes with you
Well, I wouldn't say no
Oh people said that you were virtually dead
And they were so wrong
Fifteen minutes with you
Well, I wouldn't say no
Oh people said that you were easily led
And they were half-right
They were half-right

It's time the tale were told
Of how you took a child
And you made him old
It's time the tale were told
Of how you took a child
And you made him old
You made him old

Reel around the fountain2
Slap me on the patio
I'll take it now
Fifteen minutes with you
Well, I wouldn't say no
Oh people see no worth in you
Oh but I do
Fifteen minutes with you
Well, I wouldn't say no
Oh people see no worth in you
I do

I dreamt about you last night
And I fell out of bed twice
You can pin and mount me like a butterfly1
But "Take me to the haven of your bed"
Was something that you never said
Two lumps, please
You're the bee's knees3
But so am I

Meet me at the fountain
Shove me on the patio
I'll take it slowly
Fifteen minutes with you
Oh I wouldn't say no
Oh people see no worth in you
Oh but I do
Fifteen minutes with you
Oh I wouldn't say no
Oh people see no worth in you
I do
Oh I do

The lyrics are typical Morrissey: plagiarism, unsubtle sexual references, and a deep undercurrent of romanticism. The song is about sexual desire and is one of the songs that was involved in the ridiculous child-molesting scandal.

1 "Take and mount me like a butterfly": taken from Exit Smiling - Morrissey (after From Reverence To Rape by M.Haskell)

2 "... like butterflies on pins" and "... reel around the cafe": taken from By Grand Central Station I Sat Down And Wept, by Elizabeth Smart

3 "You're the bee's knees, but so am I" and "I dreamt about you last night, and I fell out of bed twice": are both from the film adaptation of A Taste Of Honey by Shelagh Delaney.

Aveva ragione in parte

1 "Take and mount me like a butterfly": tratto da "Exit Smiling" (da From Reverence To Rape di M.Haskell)

2 "... like butterflies on pins" e "... reel around the cafe": citazioni tratte da "By Grand Central Station I Sat Down And Wept" di Elizabeth Smart

3 "You're the bee's knees, but so am I" e "I dreamt about you last night, and I fell out of bed twice": entrambe le citazioni sono tratte dall'adattamento cinematografico del racconto "A Taste Of Honey" di Shelagh Delaney.
