This song was bizarrely released as a single, and its un-chartworthy nature was proven by The Smiths' second worst chart performance in the UK. There apparently are strong rumours that this song is about a journalist with whom Morrissey had a relationship. According to Dave Simpson in his Uncut article (August 1998), the unnamed journalist steadfastly refuses to discuss Morrissey to this day. "I've watched this happen in other people's lives and now it's happened in ours" is a phrase taken by a 1935 movie called Alice Adams, directed by George Stevens, about the misadventures of two social-climbing women in small town America.

Questo brano fu stranamente pubblicato come singolo e la sua natura totalmente non adatta alle classifiche fu provata dalla performance nelle chart inglesi, la seconda peggiore di sempre degli Smiths. Sembra che ci siano voci fondate che questo testo tratti di un giornalista col quale Morrissey ebbe una relazione. Dave Simpson nel suo articolo su Uncut dell'agosto 1988, riferisce che il giornalista senza nome si rifiutava fermamente fino ad allora di rivolgere la parola a Morrissey.
