Wor(l)d of Morrissey
We're back! Welcome to the world of Morrissey's lyrics.

This site and all of the work made to keep it updated during the last 26 years are dedicated to my beloved friend MaCa65 who suddenly left this lonely planet
and me without words. Throughout the short stretch of time that we have been given to spend together as close friends, we shared many things,
thoughts, afternoons, views, passions and some bits of Life. Back in 1983, together we discovered a band called The Smiths and together since then, we followed Morrissey's career
as one of the most influential and inspiring singer/artist/poet of our age. Maca65 has always been a strong supporter since when I first launched WoM,
so this is and will always be entirely for you, my friend. -- David

I Don't Mind If You Forget Me

I don't mind
I don't mind if you forget me
Having learned my lesson
I never left an impression on anyone

So now you send me your hardened 'regards'
When once you'd send me 'love'
Sincerely I must tell you
Your mild 'best wishes'
They make me suspiscious

But I don't mind
I don't mind if you forget me
Having learned my lesson
I never left an impression on anyone

The pressure to change, to move on
Was strange and very strong
So this is why I tell you
I really do understand
Bye Bye

I don't mind if you forget me
No no no no no no no
You can only be strong for so long
It might not eat you but it would be too
So this is why I tell you
I really don't understand, this time

Rejection is one thing
But rejection from a fool
Is cruel

And I don't mind if you forget me
I don't mind if you forget me

Uncredited and unlikely rumours attribute the lyrics of this song to Johnny Marr's separation from the Smiths and consequently the break-up of relations with Morrissey.

Some differences in the lyrics are reported on other websites, such as "harty regards" instead of "hardened regards" or "Your 'my best wishes'" instead of "Your mild best wishes" or even "It might not eat you but it would beat you" instead of "It might not eat you but it will too". The verse choices given here were made on the basis of listening to the song from 'Viva Hate'.

Allora adesso tu mi mandi i tuoi "saluti" sofferti
Quando un tempo mi mandavi "amore"
Con tutta sincerità devo dirti
I tuoi freddi "migliori auguri"

No no no...

Alcune differenze nel testo sono riportate in altri siti web, come "harty regards" al posto di "hardened regards" oppure "Your 'my best wishes'" al posto di "Your mild best wishes" o ancora "It might not eat you but it would beat you" al posto di "It might not eat you but it will be too". Le scelte qui riportate dei versi sono state compiute in base all'ascolto del brano da "Viva Hate".
