Margaret On The Guillotine

The kind people
Have a wonderful dream
Margaret On The Guillotine
'Cause people like you
Make me feel so tired
When will you die?
When will you die?
When will you die?
When will you die?
When will you die?
And people like you
Make me feel so old inside
Please die
And kind people
Do not shelter this dream
Make it real
Make the dream real
Make the dream real
Make it real
Make the dream real
Make it real

The Margaret in question is of course Margaret Thatcher, the British Prime Minister during the 1980s. Absurdly enough, due to his comments wishing for the death of Thatcher, Morrissey had his house searched by the police, as he later documented in the song He Knows I'd Love To See Him.
This song sees the introduction of one of Morrissey's favourite gambits, the melodramatic sound effect, with the sudden guillotine sound closing the song and the album.
The title of this song was originally intended to the title of The Smiths' album The Queen Is Dead.

Margaret sulla ghigliottina

La gente onesta
Fa un sogno meraviglioso
Margaret sulla ghigliottina
Perché la gente come te
Mi fa sentire così stanco
Quando morirai?
Quando morirai?
Quando morirai?
Quando morirai?
Quando morirai?
Perché la gente come te
Mi fa sentire così vecchio dentro
Per favore, muori
E voi gente onesta,
Non nascondete questo sogno
Realizzatelo
Rendete il sogno reale
Rendete il sogno reale
Realizzatelo
Rendete il sogno reale
Realizzatelo

"He Knows I'd Love To See Him". Il brano termina con il suono improvviso della ghigliottina, un effetto sonoro melodrammatico cosi' caro al nostro autore.
Il titolo della canzone era stato originariamente pensato come titolo dell'album "The Queen Is Dead".
