Wor(l)d of Morrissey
We're back! Welcome to the world of Morrissey's lyrics.

This site and all of the work made to update it are dedicated to my beloved friend MaCa65 who suddenly left this lonely planet
and me without words. Throughout the short stretch of time that we have been given to spend together as close friends, we shared many things,
thoughts and passions. Back in 1983, together we discovered a band called The Smiths and together since then, we followed Morrissey's career
as one of most influential and inspiring singer/artist/poet of our age. Maca65 has been a strong supporter when I first launched WoM,
so this is and will always be entirely for you, my friend. -- David

Fantastic Bird

So then you've found your place
You say: "I wanna be the first
Stand-up comedian in outer space"

But then in a fantastic bird1
Fantastic bird

Space is gonna thrill you
Space could even kill you
But space will never love you like I do

Reflecting light down to earth
Oh yes then some humour too
Just enough to make us know we don't miss you

Have you checked suspension in the fantastic bird?
Fantastic bird

Science can engulf you
Science then propels you
But science will never love you like I do

What brings you down to earth
Ah yes of course
Yes, yes, it was a lack of applause

Scrap metal for a fantastic bird
Fantastic bird

Science propels you
Science still engulfs you
But science will never love you like I do

'Cause when you land
All I do hear is my voice:
"Welcome, I love you, don't you see?"

This is an unreleased song recorded after the sessions for "Your Arsenal" album, maybe it was a part of the b-sides recording session for the single "Certain People I Know".

The song is supposed to be about Michael Legge, a comedian who released on the web some rarity songs such as "Born To Hang", "Piccadilly Palare (1st version)". But the more credited opinion is that the song was written about Andrew Paresi (aka Andrew MacGibbon) who left the Morrissey band as a drummer to become a full-time comedian.

1 bird in British English is also slang for "type" or "girl"

Razzo fantastico

Così hai trovato il tuo posto
E dici: "Voglio essere il primo
cabarettista nello spazio"

Ma poi in un razzo fantastico
Razzo fantastico

Razzo fantastico

Razzo fantastico
