Wor(l)d of Morrissey
We're back! Welcome to the world of Morrissey's lyrics.

This site and all of the work made to keep it updated during the last 23 years are dedicated to my beloved friend MaCa65 who suddenly left this lonely planet
and me without words. Throughout the short stretch of time that we have been given to spend together as close friends, we shared many things,
thoughts, passions and some bits of Life. Back in 1983, together we discovered a band called The Smiths and together since then, we followed Morrissey's career
as one of the most influential and inspiring singer/artist/poet of our age. Maca65 has always been a strong supporter since when I first launched WoM,
so this is and will always be entirely for you, my friend. -- David

Safe, Warm Lancashire Home

Safe, warm Lancashire home
How could I leave you, I don't know
Cold hard girl
Veneer is all that she was
A head on her shoulders like Dante
But the quotes don't hold
The punchline is old
And I don't belong to no one
Oh...

Safe, warm Lancashire home
How could I leave you, I don't know
Cold hard girl
Veneer must be all that she was
Well, this is the view that now helps me
But the sky is clouds
As the world comes of age
And I don't belong to no one
Oh...

The world comes of age
As the world comes of age
A blessing or a burden
It's a blessing or a burden

This is a studio outtake from the 1987 "Viva Hate" recording sessions, published in April 2011 as a b-side to "Glamorous Glue" single re-release. Probably one of the earliest collaboration with producer/songwriter Stephen Street. Morrissey was unsatisfied with the final result and chose not to include the track in the album. It seems like he once said "it reminded him of an Aran sweater". Curiously the track could be found on the Internet with the title of "Lou Reed's Aran Sweater", as the music vaguely resembles to Lou Reed's ballads.

Calda, sicura casa nel Lancashire

Calda, sicura casa nel Lancashire
Come potrei lasciarti, non lo so
Una ragazza fredda ed austera
Lei non era altro che una maschera
La testa sulle sue spalle come Dante
Ma le citazioni non bastano
La battuta finale è vecchia
Ed io non appartengo a nessuno
Oh...
