Wor(l)d of Morrissey
We're back! Welcome to the world of Morrissey's lyrics.

This site and all of the work made to keep it updated during the last 26 years are dedicated to my beloved friend MaCa65 who suddenly left this lonely planet
and me without words. Throughout the short stretch of time that we have been given to spend together as close friends, we shared many things,
thoughts, afternoons, views, passions and some bits of Life. Back in 1983, together we discovered a band called The Smiths and together since then, we followed Morrissey's career
as one of the most influential and inspiring singer/artist/poet of our age. Maca65 has always been a strong supporter since when I first launched WoM,
so this is and will always be entirely for you, my friend. -- David

Spent The Day In Bed

Spent the day in bed
Very happy I did, yes
I spent the day in bed
as the workers stay enslaved
I spent the day in bed
I'm not my type but I love my bed

And I recommend that you stop watching the news
Because the news contrives to frighten you
To make you feel small and alone
To make you feel that your mind isn't your own

I spent the day in bed
It's a consolation when all my dreams are perfectly legal
In sheets for which I paid
I am now laid

And I recommend
To all of my friends
That they stop watching the news
Because the news contrives to frighten you
To make you feel small and alone
To make you feel that your mind isn't your own

Time, do as I wish
Time, do as I wish
Time, do as I wish
Time, do as I wish
Time, do as I wish
Do as I wish...

I spent the day in bed
You can please yourself but
I spent the day in bed
Pillows like pillars
Life ends in death
So there's nothing wrong with being good to yourself
Be good to yourdelf for once

No bus, no boss (no bus, no patron)1
No rain, no train (no bus, no patron)
No bus, no boss, no rain, no train
No emasculation, no castration
No highway, freeway, motorway
No bus, no boss, no rain, no train
No bus, no boss, no rain, no train

1 "No bus, no boss" in Spanish.

From the album Low In High School, “Spent the Day in Bed” was released as the first single. “Spent the Day in Bed” was first played by BBC 6 Music on September 19, 2017.

One of the songs by Morrissey against the media and how they dehumanise people with constant flow of bad news. The political aim of the news is, to his terms, contribute to throw fear to people, in order to control their opinions and keep living a life and work as enslaved.

To this scenario he opposes a more relaxed life, away from the hustle and bustle of the modern world, even a whole day spent in bed without worries and taking a little care of oneself, almost as if it were a form of rebellion against the classic patterns dictated by the economy, work and the system.

E consiglio
a tutti i miei amici

Cuscini come pilastri

Niente bus, niente capo
Niente pioggia, niente treno
Niente bus, niente capo, niente pioggia, niente treno
Niente evirazione, niente castrazione
Niente statale, tangenziale, autostrada
Niente bus, niente capo, niente pioggia, niente treno
Niente bus, niente capo, niente pioggia, niente treno

1 "No bus, no boss" in spagnolo.

Dall'album Low In High School, "Spent the Day in Bed" è stato pubblicato come primo singolo.
