Wor(l)d of Morrissey
We're back! Welcome to the world of Morrissey's lyrics.

This site and all of the work made to keep it updated during the last 25 years are dedicated to my beloved friend MaCa65 who suddenly left this lonely planet
and me without words. Throughout the short stretch of time that we have been given to spend together as close friends, we shared many things,
thoughts, passions and some bits of Life. Back in 1983, together we discovered a band called The Smiths and together since then, we followed Morrissey's career
as one of the most influential and inspiring singer/artist/poet of our age. Maca65 has always been a strong supporter since when I first launched WoM,
so this is and will always be entirely for you, my friend. -- David

He Cried

"I need you"
Simple words
But words which had never been heard
By the soul
Stoned to death
But still living
And so he froze where he stood
And he looked to the ground
And he cried
He cried

Ride our minds
If you must
But there's always a line you don't cross
Time is short
Don't be cruel
Oh you don't know the power
In what you're saying
Oh ...
And so he froze where he stood
And he looked to the ground
And he cried
He cried

People where I come from
They survive without feelings or blood
I never could
Was stoned to death
But I'm still living
So he froze where he stood
And he looked to the ground
And he cried
He cried

So he froze
And he looked, and he looked
To the ground
And he cried
He cried

The whole song points to his incapability to move on from the fame-framed-state he's created himself.
He seems to ask himself: "Ok. you've made it, but how much of a better human being are you? How happier are you these days?". We can sum up very much all this with a few of Wilde's words: "In the world there are only two tragedies. One is not to get what one wants, and the other is getting it."

Lui pianse

"Ho bisogno di te"
Semplici parole
ma parole che non sono mai state ascoltate
da un'anima
impietrita dalla morte
ma ancora viva
E lui si congelò dove si trovava
e guardò a terra
e pianse
Lui pianse

Cavalca le nostre opinioni
se proprio devi
ma c'è sempre una linea che non attraversi
Il tempo è breve
Non essere crudele
Oh tu non conosci il potere
di quello che stai dicendo
Oh...
E così si congelò dove si trovava
e guardò a terra
e pianse
Lui pianse

La gente da cui provengo
sopravvive senza sentimenti o sangue
Io non potrei mai
Ero impietrito dalla morte
ma sono ancora vivo
Così si congelò dove si trovava
e guardò a terra
e pianse
Lui pianse

Così si congelò
e guardò, guardò
a terra
E pianse
