Wor(l)d of Morrissey
We're back! Welcome to the world of Morrissey's lyrics.

This site and all of the work made to keep it updated during the last 27 years are dedicated to my beloved friend MaCa65 who suddenly left this lonely planet
and me without words. Throughout the short stretch of time that we have been given to spend together as close friends, we shared many things,
thoughts, afternoons, views, passions and some bits of Life. Back in 1983, together we discovered a band called The Smiths and together since then, we followed
Morrissey's career as one of the most influential and inspiring singer/artist/poet of our age. Maca65 has always been a strong supporter since when I first launched WoM,
so this is and will always be entirely for you, my friend. -- David

The Monsters Of Pig Alley

Did you get the job and did they use your song?
Did you find somewhere nice to call your home?
Look after yourself
Your health is wealth
And now we say words that we never believed we say
The monsters of Pig Alley say
"Why don't you give it to rest and come back home?"
We're trapped and we moan
But we're all your own
And we love you

Did you meet the star makers and the leg breakers?
And what is the difference between the two?
And what would you do
If the dream came true?
And now we say words that we never believed we'd say
The monsters of Pig Alley say
"Why don't you pack it in and come back home?"
We're not sophisticated
We're overweight and dated
But we love you
We love you

Now the phone goes unanswered in your room
When you've tasted fame, nothing else will do
Body found on hopper ground
And now we say words that we never believed we'd say
The monsters of Pig Alley say
"Why don't you pack it in and come back home?"
The higher you climb, the less you find

The title may be an oblique take on the name of this 1912 film: "The Muskeeters of Pig Alley"

Pigalle ("Pig Alley" is clearly one of Morrissey's clever pun) is a red light district of Paris, a city that get a few mentions on the album "Make-up Is A Lie"

Siamo intrappolati e gemiamo,
ma siamo tutti tuoi
e ti amiamo."

Siamo sovrappeso e fuori moda
Ma ti amiamo
Ti amiamo."
