Wor(l)d of Morrissey
We're back! Welcome to the world of Morrissey's lyrics.

This site and all of the work made to keep it updated during the last 27 years are dedicated to my beloved friend MaCa65 who suddenly left this lonely planet
and me without words. Throughout the short stretch of time that we have been given to spend together as close friends, we shared many things,
thoughts, afternoons, views, passions and some bits of Life. Back in 1983, together we discovered a band called The Smiths and together since then, we followed
Morrissey's career as one of the most influential and inspiring singer/artist/poet of our age. Maca65 has always been a strong supporter since when I first launched WoM,
so this is and will always be entirely for you, my friend. -- David

Lester Bangs

Another tight
beer-can night
in your basement of despair
naked ladies on the wall
because they belong there
Detroit t-shirt worn and torn
with seven days of stains
but ah, when you lift your pen
for Roxy Music and the Dolls
The Village Voice - it has no choice
it must laud your every word
How does it feel to be you, Lester Bangs?
how does it feel to be you, Lester Bangs?
three thousand miles away
this nerd hangs on your word
I lean, and you are leaned upon
when all my life was so wrong
Drugs and Allen Ginsberg books
every day is the same
Lester wrapped in an American flag
he watches the football game
then Lester loose on carpet
full of 4 AM pain
but ah, when you lift your pen
for Roxy Music and the Dolls
The Village Voice - it has no choice
they must laud your every word
How does it feel to be you, Lester Bangs?
how does it feel to be you, Lester Bangs?
three thousand miles away
this nerd hangs on your word
I lean, and you are leaned upon
when all my youth went oh so wrong.

Lester Bangs (1948–1982) was a legendary American rock critic and writer known for his passionate, visceral style in Creem and Rolling Stone. A key early champion of 1970s proto-punk and glam, he wrote influential reviews and essays on the New York Dolls and Roxy Music, famously arguing for raw, honest art.

Lester Bangs

Un'altra notte stretta
tra lattine di birra
nel tuo seminterrato di disperazione
donne nude sulle pareti
perché è lì che devono stare
Maglietta di Detroit consumata e strappata
con macchie di sette giorni fa
ma ah, quando alzi la penna
per Roxy Music e i Dolls
The Village Voice - non ha scelta
deve lodare ogni tua parola
The Village Voice - non ha scelta
devono lodare ogni tua parola
