Wor(l)d of Morrissey
We're back! Welcome to the world of Morrissey's lyrics.

This site and all of the work made to keep it updated during the last 27 years are dedicated to my beloved friend MaCa65 who suddenly left this lonely planet
and me without words. Throughout the short stretch of time that we have been given to spend together as close friends, we shared many things,
thoughts, afternoons, views, passions and some bits of Life. Back in 1983, together we discovered a band called The Smiths and together since then, we followed
Morrissey's career as one of the most influential and inspiring singer/artist/poet of our age. Maca65 has always been a strong supporter since when I first launched WoM,
so this is and will always be entirely for you, my friend. -- David

Notre-Dame

Notre-Dame, we know who tried to kill you
Notre-Dame, we know who tried to kill you
Notre-Dame, we will not be silent
Notre-Dame, we will not be silent

Before investigations
They said, 'There's nothing to see here!'1

Notre-Dame, we will not be silent
Notre-Dame, we will not be silent

Before investigations
They said, 'There's nothing to see here!'

Notre-Dame, a cold hand just touched me
Notre-Dame, a cold hand just touched me
Notre-Dame, we will not be silent
Notre-Dame, we will not be silent

Before investigations
They said, 'There's nothing to see here!'1

Notre-Dame, a cold hand just touched me
Notre-Dame, a cold hand just touched me

Second single from the album ‘Make-Up Is A Lie’ to be released on 9 February 2026.

The lyrics are clearly inspired by the fire on 15 April 2019 at the famous cathedral in Paris. At the time, there was much controversy about the causes of the disaster and also about the investigations conducted by the French authorities.

Initially, the investigation pointed the finger at workers who, according to reconstructions, had been smoking on the scaffolding and throwing cigarette butts on the ground. In reality, however, it seems that the fire started inside the cathedral and not on the external scaffolding, so this hypothesis was quickly dismissed.

To date, the main cause is believed to be linked to scaffolding installed in the attic, which inadvertently damaged the system that controlled the movement of the bells, causing a short circuit and the resulting fire.

1 Before the single release, during several live exhibitions from 2023, this line was sung as: "They said, 'This is not terrorism!'"

Notre-Dame

Secondo singolo dall'album "Make-Up Is A Lie" in uscita il 9 febbraio 2026.
