Wor(l)d of Morrissey
We're back! Welcome to the world of Morrissey's lyrics.

This site and all of the work made to keep it updated during the last 25 years are dedicated to my beloved friend MaCa65 who suddenly left this lonely planet
and me without words. Throughout the short stretch of time that we have been given to spend together as close friends, we shared many things,
thoughts, passions and some bits of Life. Back in 1983, together we discovered a band called The Smiths and together since then, we followed Morrissey's career
as one of the most influential and inspiring singer/artist/poet of our age. Maca65 has always been a strong supporter since when I first launched WoM,
so this is and will always be entirely for you, my friend. -- David

Striptease With A Difference

Bending the rules of a late night card game
Where the loser removes an item of clothing
You're dreading each deal so urgent and grave
Have a shufty over your shoulder,
well it's a shady game

And I want to lose
Oh, please let me lose
Oh, please let me lose
it's nothing to you
it's nothing to you

This reshuffled pack
brings back the sick curse of luck
because the ace in my hand is such a shock
Exchanging a king for your two
while you're out of the room
Have a shufty over your shoulder,
well all the same it's a shady game

And I want to lose
Oh, please let me lose
Oh, please let me lose
it's nothing to you
it's nothing to you

I'm cutting this queen,
well this six is chewed
you're all undisguised,
I'm stuck on shoes

So have you ever met a bad winner?
Well how do you do?

Jack! Ace! Queen! King!
no.. no.. no..

They won't let me lose..
I'm bending the rules of a late night card game

shufty: this means a glance, look

Morrissey said of this song, in The Face magazine in 1990:
"There's a song called Striptease With A Difference which is about playing a game of cards wherein the loser of each game has to take off an item of clothing. And it's about secretly hoping one loses and in fact manipulating the game towards that end."

Tu temi ogni giro cosi' urgente e serio

Tu sei completamente schietto
Io sono rimasto solo con le scarpe!

Allora, avevi mai incontrato un vincitore disonesto?
Ebbene, come stai?

No, no, no ...
