05/06/2005 - John Giddings della Solo Agency, l'agenzia che promuove il festival dell'Isola di Wight, ha avuto un colloquio con il sito MorrisseyTour.com sulla situazione della mancata partecipazione di Morrissey: "Credo che la replica pubblicata su Internet (attribuita direttamente al cantante) sia spazzatura. Il suo manager ed agente sono di alto livello e non posso credere che abbiano negoziato lo show e rilasciato il contratto senza consultare Morrissey. Perché ha lasciato che venissero venduti biglietti per 4 mesi a suo nome? E' una persona triste che sembra non preoccuparsi di deludere la gente. Non è la prima volta e non sarà l'ultima."
John Giddings of the Solo Agency, (the agency promoting the Isle of Wight Festival) spoke with MorrisseyTour.com about the situation.
Said Giddings: "I think his [Morrissey's] reply is rubbish. His manager and agent are of the highest standing in this business, and I cannot believe they negotiated the show and issued the contract without consulting him. Why did he allow tickets to be sold in his name for 4 months? He is a sad person who seems not to care about letting people down. It's not the first time, and it won't be the last." |
02/06/2005 - Morrissey replica alla dichiarazione della Sanctuary Records
Molti siti di fan di Morrissey hanno pubblicato una dichiarazione diretta del loro artista preferito in cui la Sanctuary viene smentita sull'intera vicenda della mancata apparizione al festival dell'Isola di Wight. "Non ho mai, in nessun momento, dato la mia disponibilità a suonare al Festival" si legge nell'annuncio che è apparso su Morrissey-solo.com. La dichiarazione inoltre specifica che Morrissey sta ancora lavorando con l'attuale batterista Dean Butterworth (Deano) e che Morrissey non esercita alcun controllo su quanto pubblicato da Morrisseymusic.com.
Morrissey's reply to Sanctuary statement
Several Morrissey fansites have published a statement purporting to be directly from Morrissey himself which contradicts the official line. I have not ever, at any time, agreed to play the Isle of Wight Festival, reads the statement that appeared on Morrissey-solo.com. The statement also claims that Morrissey is still working with his current drummer Deano, and that the star has no control over Morrisseymusic.com. |
31/05/2005 - La partecipazione di Morrissey al festival dell'Isola di Wight
Morrissey si è affacciato sulla Rete questo weekend per chiarire una sua presunta apparizione all'imminente festival, per il quale dichiara di essere stato messo fra i partecipanti per errore. L'ex frontman degli Smiths si è inoltre scagliato contro la sua etichetta Sanctuary Records e ha dichiarato che firmerà con un'altra casa discografica prima di pubblicare un nuovo album. Un comunicato apparso sul sito ufficiale di Morrissey della Sanctuary ha attribuito la confusione creatasi per il festival all'agenda del cantante, piuttosto piena. "La pressione nel preparare il nuovo album e la perdita del batterista Dean Butterworth (in tour con i Good Charlotte) all'inizio di maggio ha reso impossibile la partecipazione al concerto senza compromettere enormemente il lavoro sull'album ed il concerto stesso". Questo il commento della Sanctuary.
Morrissey took to the Internet this weekend to clarify a previously announced booking at the upcoming Isle of Wight festival, for which he claims to have been confirmed in error. The former Smiths frontman also lashed out at his label, Sanctuary Records, and declared he would sign with a different company prior to the release of a new studio album.
A statement on Morrissey's Sanctuary-run official Web site blamed the Isle of Wight confusion on the artist's busy schedule. "The pressure of preparing the new album and losing his drummer [Dean Butterworth] earlier this month has made it impossible to do the gig without massively compromising both the gig and the album," it said. |

Già dallo scorso 18 gennaio circolava la notizia secondo la quale Morrissey avrebbe pubblicato un album dal vivo. Oggi si apprende che il cantante spedirà nelle rivendite il CD, intitolato "Morrissey live at Earl's Court", il prossimo 4 aprile. Registrato nello scorso dicembre nel corso del tour britannico dell'ex leader degli Smiths, il disco comprende questi brani:
"How soon is now", "First of the gang to die", "November spawned a monster", "Don't make fun of Daddy's voice", "Bigmouth strikes again",

18/03/2005 - "Redondo Beach" è il nuovo singolo
Il singolo Redondo Beach tratto dall'imminente album "Live At Earls Court", verrà pubblicato negli USA il prossimo 5 aprile e nel Regno Unito il prossimo 28 marzo su CD, vinile 7" e DVD. Il singolo, che è una cover di una vecchia canzone di Patti Smith, sarà accompagnata da una nuova edizione di "There Is A Light That Never Goes Out" (live) e "Noise Is The Best Revenge" (Janice Long BBC Sessions).

In alto a sinistra su ogni pagina di questo sito, potete ammirare delle parti di foto rigorosamente in bianco e nero, molte delle quali si riferiscono alla serie su Southam Street del fotografo inglese Roger Mayne, scattate dal 1956 al 1961. Morrissey ha utilizzato molte foto di Southam Street per le copertine dei dischi e durante il tour del 1997 come sfondi.

Difficile poter pensare che Morrissey, tornato sulle scene in grande spolvero proprio negli scorsi mesi dopo anni di silenzio discografico, stia meditando il ritiro. Eppure, a sentire quanto riporta un tabloid britannico, sembra che le cose stiano così. “Non ha mai voluto diventare un rocker anziano”, ha riferito un amico dell’ex frontman degli Smiths ad un quotidiano londinese. “Durante gli ultimi concerti che ha tenuto, Morrissey ha accennato al fatto che questo potrebbe rappresentare il suo ultimo tour.”
Morrissey rumoured to retire
It is hard to believe that Morrissey, back in the scene after years of silence, is thinking about retirement. Yet a British tabloid reports that this could be the truth. "He never wanted to become an ancient rocker", a friend said to the newspaper. "During the last gigs he held, Morrissey mentioned that this could be the last tour of his career." |
