15/02/2006 - Su NME le ultime sul video di "You Have Killed Me"

"Nul Points For Morrissey" - While in Rome, morrissey recorded the video for his long-awaited comeback single, 'You Have Killed Me' which is out on March 27. The video is a satire on the Eurovision Song contest, of which the Mozfather is something of an expert: 'The idea came from the Eurovision Song Contests from 1969 to 1974,' he told NME, 'on which I could sit for Mastermind'. Morrissey is now concentrating on preparing for his forthcoming UK tour, which will visit towns across the country, with 4 gigs in his native and beloved Manchester. |

07/01/2006 - Anticipazioni sul nuovo album su Billboard.com
Le parti migliori dell'album includono "The Father Who Must Be Killed", in cui si mette in contrasto la trama di un assassinio con un ritornello ultra-leggero; l'inusuale progressione di accordi della strofa in "On The Streets I Ran" (nella quale Morrissey fa menzione del suo talento di "trasfromare disagio in canzoni popolari"); e la lunghissima "Life Is A Pigsty" (più di 7 minuti), una inquietante, incredibilmente variegata traccia chiazzata qua e là da suoni di pioggia e tuoni. Dal punto di vista dei testi, Morrissey il narratore trascende i propri confini terreni (nel brano d'apertura "I Will See You In Far Off Places"), lamenta un amore perduto ("I'll Never Be Anybody's Hero"), rende omaggio a "quel qualcuno che sa placarmi" ("To Me You Are A Work Of Art") e celebra una rinascita, personale o meno (il brano di chiusura vagamente western "At Last I Am Born").
Details on new album from billboard.com web site
Album highlights include "The Father Who Must Be Killed," which juxtaposes a murderous storyline with an ultra-poppy chorus; the unusual verse chord progression of "On the Streets I Ran" (during which Morrissey mentions his talent for "turning sickness into popular song"); and the seven-minute plus "Life Is a Pigsty," an ominous, uncommonly multifaceted track flecked with the sound of rain and thunder. Lyrically, Morrissey the storyteller transcends his earthly constraints (opener "I Will See You in Far Off Places"), laments a lost love ("I'll Never Be Anybody's Hero"), pays tribute to "the someone who can soothe me" ("To Me You Are a Work of Art") and celebrates a rebirth, personal or otherwise (the vaguely Western closer "At Last I Am Born"). |
