13/07/2010 - La EMI ristampa la raccolta "Bona Drag" con nuovi brani
Secondo la webzine True to You il 27 settembre la EMI ristamperà il primo album/raccolta di Morrissey. "Bona Drag" fu la prima raccolta di singoli e b-side che il Moz pubblico nel 1990 dopo lo scioglimento degli Smiths e la pubblicazione di "Viva Hate". In questa occasione la major rielabora la versione del disco espandendola con tracce inedite e un update dell'artwork. Stranamente c'è l'approvazione di Morrissey che di solito è restio a queste operazioni di marketing. Questa la tracklist aggiornata:

Bona Drag: 20th Anniversary vinyl and CD editions release information
To celebrate its 20th Anniversary, on 27th September, EMI will release through the resurrected 1960s Major Minor label, with Morrissey's full cooperation, a remastered Special Edition of Bona Drag. Originally released to much acclaim in October 1990, Bona Drag perfectly captures Morrissey's effortless transition in becoming a solo artist. It brings together his exceptional first seven singles, four of which went Top 10: his triumphant Top 5 debut, "Suedehead"; the anthemic, apocalyptic lament to wet seaside towns, "Everyday Is Like Sunday"; "The Last Of The Famous International Playboys"; and "Interesting Drug". The Top 20s "Ouija Board, Ouija Board", "November Spawned A Monster", and "Piccadilly Palare" and a selection of high quality b-sides from the singles complete the album. The compilation has now been remastered and overseen by Morrissey, and is updated with the addition of six previously unreleased and much coveted songs from the era:

Directing the artwork for the reissue, Morrissey has chosen to return the cover art - taken from the "November" video - back to its natural colour, so his shirt is black. In addition, he has also decided to update the back and inner artwork with a selection of favourite, hand-picked and rarely-seen photos. The LP version will be a double heavyweight 180g vinyl, housed in a wide-spine sleeve with a pull-out poster. The CD will be housed in a gatefold, card sleeve with an eight-page booklet, which will contain the aforementioned photos. (source: true-to-you.net) |

Molti ormai conoscono WoM: il sito è volutamente scarno nella grafica. I testi, le parole e le idee devono essere al centro dell'attenzione. Ma se volete dare una mano, spedite un bel logo 468x60 pixel (JPG o PNG e <=60KBytes) con il nome del sito: "Wor(l)d of Morrissey", anche animato. Il nome del sito, ovviamente, sta ad indicare: World of Morrissey o Word of Morrissey. Anche graficamente si può creare qualche effetto sfruttando questa particolarità del nome. Grazie in anticipo a tutti coloro che manderanno qualcosa. I migliori verranno messi con il nome dell'autore, sulla home page, a rotazione. Mercoledì 23 giugno 2010 alle ore 23.00, presso l'Ex 3 - Centro per l'arte contemporanea di Firenze (Viale Donato Giannotti) si terrà la presentazione del docu-film "Inside The Smiths". Per la prima volta, dallo scioglimento della storica band The Smiths, il batterista Mike Joyce torna in Italia in una doppia veste: relatore e dj. Relatore perché sarà lui stesso a presentare al pubblico italiano il docu-film "Inside The Smiths". Retrospettiva sulla storica band capitanata da Morrissey diretta e curata proprio da Mike Joyce ed Andy Rourke, rispettivamente batteria e basso degli Smiths. DJ perchè una volta chiusa la parentesi del meeting artista/pubblico Mike Joyce salirà in consolle per selezionare la musica che è stata protagonista di quegli ormai mitici anni ’80 inglesi. Un party in piena regola in cui protagonisti saranno gruppi come i Buzzcocks, Happy Mondays, Stone Roses, ovviamente gli stessi Smiths e molti altri, fino alle ultime produzioni della musica indipendente britannica.

08/02/2010 - Morrissey corteggiato da una grande casa editrice per la sua autobiografia
Morrissey, che avrebbe iniziato a scrivere l'autobiografia, ha ricevuto un plateale corteggiamento da parte di Faber & Faber. Si tratta di una delle più prestigiose case editrici britanniche. Un dirigente della casa, Lee Brackstone, in una lettera aperta all'ex Smiths ha affermato che per la Faber sarebbe "un sogno" poter pubblicare il libro e gli ha rivolto uno squisito complimento. Brackstone ha scritto che Faber & Faber vuole annoverarlo tra i grandi che onorano il proprio catalogo, per fargli avere un posto tra pesi massimi della letteratura quali Ezra Pound e Philip Larkin. Morrissey wooed by a big publisher for his upcoming autobiography
Morrissey, who would have begun to write his own autobiography, received a glaring offer by Faber & Faber, one of the biggest British publishers. Lee Brackstone, a manager of Faber & Faber, wrote an open letter to Morrissey saying that it would be a "dream" to have the opportunity to publish his book and payed him a sweet compliment: Brackstone wrote that Faber & Faber would number him among the greatest authors of the literature such as Ezra Pound and Philip Larkin. 27/10/2009 - Morrissey riprende il tour a Londra dopo il collasso sul palco
Morrissey ha confermato che si esibirà a Londra al Royal Albert Hall oggi 27 ottobre nonostante il collasso che lo ha colpito sabato scorso all'Oasis Leisure Centre di Swindon. L'ex-frontman degli Smiths è stato dimesso dall'ospedale il giorno dopo lo svenimento accadutogli dopo aver cantato la prima canzone del concerto. Lo spettacolo di Bournemouth previsto per il 26 ottobre è stato cancellato su consiglio medico, ma il portavoce del tour ha confermato che lo show di Londra non subirà modifiche. Dopo la data di Londra Morrissey continuerà il tour in UK e in Irlanda, concludendo il 23 novembre a Dublino.

Morrissey has confirmed that he play his London Royal Albert Hall date tomorrow (October 27) despite his on-stage collapse at the Swindon Oasis Leisure Centre on Saturday (October 24). The Smiths' former singer was released from hospital yesterday after collapsing just after playing the opening song at the gig. He postponed a show tonight (October 26) at the Bournemouth Academy, but his spokesperson told NME.COM that tomorrow's London show is still set to go ahead.
Following the London show Morrissey is scheduled to continue to tour the UK and Ireland, wrapping up the jaunt on November 23 in Dublin. |

Ieri sera Morrissey è stato portato in ospedale dopo essere svenuto sul palco a causa di problemi respiratori. Testimoni riferiscono che Morrissey è caduto a terra durante l'esecuzione di This Charming Man all'Oasis Leisure Centre di Swindon (UK). Due membri dello staff lo hanno portato fuori dal palco ed un'ambulanza lo ha condotto al Great Western Hospital per accertamenti. Le sue condizioni vengono dichiarate "stabili" dal personale medico. Morrissey aveva già cancellato diverse date del tour di quest'anno a causa di una non meglio precisata malattia. (fonte: BBC News)
Morrissey collapses during show in Swindon
Former Smiths singer Morrissey has been taken to hospital after collapsing on stage with breathing difficulties. Eyewitnesses said the 50-year-old fell to the floor during a performance of his former band's song This Charming Man at Oasis Leisure Centre in Swindon. Two of his current band's members took him off stage and an ambulance took him to Great Western Hospital, where his condition was described as "stable".
