08/10/2008 - Morrissey in tour in Nuova Zelanda ed Australia nel 2009
Morrissey suonerà in Nuova Zelanda nel 2009. Le città dove Morrissey ed il suo gruppo si esibiranno sono: Christchurch, Wellington, Auckland e Dunedin. Da qui Morrissey passerà all'Australia dove i concerti si terranno a Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne e Adelaide.

18/08/2008 - Morrissey rimanda l'uscita del nuovo album
L'uscita del nuovo album Years Of Refusal è stato rimandata a causa di problemi con l'etichetta discografica. Morrissey fa inoltre di sapere di non essere affatto contento dell'uscita di un nuovo Greatest Hits degli Smiths prevista per la fine dell'anno. E non ci saranno date del nuovo tour molto presto. Come riportato dal sito True To You: "Per desiderio della Universal Music, l'album Years Of Refusal è stato rinviato alla pubblicazione per il prossimo 2 febbraio 2009. In questo momento, inoltre, non c'è alcuna etichetta per l'uscita negli Stati Uniti, dal momento che Morrissey si è ritirato dalla Decca US dopo la cattiva promozione per l'ultimo Greatest Hits." Il nuovo album Years Of Refusal doveva uscire il prossimo settembre.
Morrissey postpones new album
New Morrissey's album has been postponed due to label troubles and the singer is also none too pleased about an upcoming Smiths greatest hits. And don't expect Morrissey to tour any time soon. As reported on True To You: "At the wish of Universal Music, Years of Refusal has been put back to a February 2nd release. There is also, at this stage, still no US label for the album since Morrissey withdrew from Decca US after their poor promotion for the Greatest hits release." Years of Refusal - postponed to February - was originally to be released in September. |

L'unico concerto di Morrissey quest'estate nel Regno Unito si è svolto lo scorso 9 luglio ed è stato un successo travolgente. 05/06/2008 - Morrissey si separa dal manager Merck Mercuriadis
Morrissey ha diviso la sua strada da quella di Mercuriadis, che è stato il suo manager negli ultimi 5 anni. L'ex-Smiths ha preferito scegliere un nuovo contratto con la "IE: Music", un'agenzia di management affermata e con molti clienti tra cui Robbie Williams. Mercuriadis sostiene di non essere amareggiato dalla decisione, confessando in realtà di essere sollevato dall'aver terminato la sua relazione di lavoro con il cantante inglese, con la possibilità di avere un po' di riposo. "Negli utlimi 5 anni, Morrissey ed io abbiamo portato a termine 3 album che sono finiti al n. 5, 2 e 1 in classifica e 10 singoli entrati nella top 20, abbiamo venduto centinaia di concerti in tutto il mondo da Earl's Court (Londra) all'Hollywood Bowl (Los Angeles). Credo che la mia penitenza sia espiata e che San Morrissey mi abbia concesso l'assoluzione!"
Morrissey parts with manager Merck Mercuriadis
Morrissey has parted ways with his manager of five years. The former Smiths frontman has severed links with his longterm associate Merck Mercuriadis in favour of a new contract with "IE: Music" - a management firm boasting clients including Robbie Williams. Mercuriadis insists he is not bitter about the decision - admitting he is actually relieved to have ended his working relationship with the singer, as he can now have some time off. He says: "Over the last five years, Morrissey and I have had three albums which entered the charts at five, two and one, and had 10 top 20 singles and sold hundreds of gigs all over the world from Earl's Court (London) to the Hollywood Bowl (Los Angeles). I believe my penance is complete and Saint Morrissey has granted my absolution!" |

Il nuovo album di Morrissey sarà intitolato 'Years Of Refusal'. E' da poco stato completato e uscirà il prossimo settembre con l'etichetta Polydor UK (Universal). Deve ancora essere decisa l'etichetta Universal che pubblicherà l'album negli Stati Uniti. 'Years Of Refusal' contiene 12 tracce ed è stato prodotto da Jerry Finn. In luglio la Sony-BMG farà uscire una versione rimasterizzata di 'Southpaw Grammar', l'album già pubblicato nel 1995 con la RCA, e conterrà 3 brani inediti ed un nuovo artwork. (fonte: truetoyou)

Morrissey's new studio album 'Years of Refusal' is now complete, and is set for a September release by Polydor UK (Universal). It has yet to be decided which Universal label will release the album in the US. 'Years of Refusal' has 12 tracks and is produced by Jerry Finn. Prior to this, Sony-BMG will issue a remastered version of 'Southpaw Grammar' in July. This album, first released in 1995, will include three previously unreleased tracks, and new artwork. Il secondo singolo del 2008 'All You Need Is Me' verrà pubblicato il prossimo 2 giugno per una sola settimana. In precedenza la data di uscita era stata fissata per il 19 maggio. “All you need is me”, in uscita il prossimo 19 maggio, contiene come b-sides una versione live di “Drive-in Saturday” di David Bowie e due brani, “Children in pieces” e “My dearest love”, registrati col compositore argentino Gustavo Santaolalla. Il nuovo singolo di Morrissey "That's How People Grow Up" ha fatto il suo ingresso nella UK Top 40 al numero 14. Non male considerando che la pubblicazione è solo in un formato (su CDS) e che non ci sono nuove b-side nel disco (sono presenti versioni live di vecchie canzoni).

28/01/2008 - Morrissey abbandona il concerto al Roundhouse dopo tre brani
Lo show al Roundhouse di Londra dello scorso 25 gennaio finisce nel caos quando il cantante scompare dalla scena per una problema alla voce dopo soltanto tre canzoni. Dopo 15 minuti è stato annunciato che lo spettacolo non sarebbe continuato. Gli attori Russell Brand e David Williams ed il presentatore TV Jonathan Ross (tutti amici di Morrissey) sono saliti sul palco per cercare di placare il pubblico e hanno ricevuto il lancio di qualche oggetto da parte della folla quando la notizia che lo show era terminatosi è diffusa. Al momento non è noto se le date di Londra ed il resto del tour in UK potranno avere luogo, date le condizioni di salute del cantante.
Morrissey abandons gig in Roundhouse after three songs
Morrissey was forced to abandon his show at the London Roundhouse (January 25) after just three songs. The former Smith began the show, but left the stage early after it appeared he lost his voice. Following a 15-minute delay it was announced that the show would not continue. Comedians Russell Brand, David Walliams and TV presenter Jonathan Ross took to the stage to try and placate the audience, however some members of the crowd threw items at the trio when they learnt the gig was off. |
25/01/2008 - Tour nel Medio Oriente per Morrissey?
Pare che Morrissey sia in trattative col governo iraniano per esibirsi a Teheran nel 2008. Il cantante ha espresso il suo interesse per un concerto nella capitale iraniana lo scorso giugno, preferibilmente assieme al cantante pop arabo Kazem al-Sahir. Secondo quanto riferisce l'Independent, il management di Morrissey è in attesa di una risposta dal Ministro della Cultura e Guida Islamica. "E' una delle priorità principali per noi" - riferisce il manager Merck Mercuriadis - "In un modo o nell'altro faremo il tour del Medio Oriente, in luoghi come Gerusalemme e Beirut. E speriamo anche di suonare in Iran." Sotto l'attuale legge dell'Iran, la diffusione di alcuni testi di canzoni pop occidentali è proibita.
Morrissey to tour Middle East?
Morrissey is reportedly in negotiations with the government of Iran to play a concert in the country in 2008. The singer has expressed an interest in playing a date in the country's capital Teheran this June, ideally with the Arab pop singer Kazem al-Sahir. According to The Independent, the singer's management are currently awaiting a formal response from Iran’s Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance. "It's a major priority for us," said manager Merck Mercuriadis before adding, "One way or another we will tour the Middle East - in terms of places like Jerusalem and Beirut. And we hope to play Iran." Under current Iranian law, some Western pop lyrics are banned. |
